HISTORY OF ANNUAL GREEN ACTION PLAN OF DELHI
- The Govt. of National Capital of Delhi considered tree plantation as an effective tool to combat air pollution in 1996-97.
- In 1996 the Govt. of NCT of Delhi constituted a “Task Force” comprising of various Govt. organizations, local bodies, NGOs for preparation of Greening Delhi Action Plan dedicated for planning and implementation of afforestation works in Delhi. The Department of Forests and Wildlife, GNCTD was nominated as the Nodal Agency.
- The first edition of Green Action Plan was published on 1997-98. Till date, 27 such action plans have been prepared and implemented.
Over the years following plantation targets and achievements (including free distribution) had been undertaken in NCT of Delhi under various Green Action Plan:
